The Port of Liverpool building is a Grade I listed building located within a world heritage site at the Pier Head, Liverpool.
It is one of the world renowned three graces, the others being the Liver building and the Cunard building.
Works were carried out over a 2 year period and included mechanical and electrical installation works, plus repairs and restoration to the external
fabric of the existing building, to include stonework repairs, lead work repairs, window repairs, ironwork/metalwork repairs and rainwater goods.
Works were also carried out associated with fire precautions and means of escape to include construction of 2 new fire fighting shafts, and alterations
and improvements to fire warning and detection systems. Internal alterations, improvements and redecoration works and new build extensions at roof level (level 5)
to provide office accomodation, also remedial works to the main dome, and improvements to the layout and finishes to the existing car park.
Rawlings Consultancy Services were the appointed CDM coordinator on this esteemed project. Downing were the client, George Downing Construction was the principle contractor, Donald Insall Associates were the architect. Clancy Consulting were the structural engineer, and KGA partnership were the mechanical end electrical engineers.
